Southlands comprises 26 single bedrooms and 3 shared rooms, many of which have en-suite facilities. There are 4 bathrooms with specialised bathing equipment.
The bedrooms are furnished and decorated to a high standard and we encourage our residents to bring personal items such as ornaments and photographs to enable them to feel completely at home. Families can install personal televisions and telephones as they wish.
We have two lounges, with television, radio, DVD and video player, one looking over the front garden and the second, bright and south facing, at the rear with access to a patio.
There is a separate dining room which we also use as an activities area for our residents to get together and plan and create artwork for our next event or themed day.
We have a large selection of books both large and regular print available.
The Matron, Joan Wilson, has day to day responsibility for the running of the home. Joan is a Registered General Nurse and is in the process of registering with the Care Quality Commission as the Manager of Southlands.
Joan is supported by a team of skilled nurses and care staff who have an on-going programme of training and development enabling them to plan, deliver and deploy outstanding care to residents.
The home has excellent cleaning, maintenance, laundry and gardening ancillary staff who ensure the home is always well presented and provides a safe and comfortable environment.
Not forgetting our chefs who know that good food means happy people. They ensure each resident’s dietary preferences and specific nutritional needs are catered for and provide a selection of home-prepared and home-cooked meals to the highest standard throughout the day.
You are welcome to come and view Southlands Nursing Home at any time or call to make an appointment to meet Joan and her team for a guided tour of this beautiful home.
